This course incorporates innovative pedagogies and methods that support students and educators in the teaching-learning process. It is composed of open digital learning content:
- 5 Modules
- 3 Videos
- 3 Virtual Simulated cases
This can be easily introduced into university curricula in Degrees in Health Sciences (medicine, nursing, pharmacy, etc.).
To complete the programme, it is recommended that students dedicate between 25 and 30 hours, of which 5 will be for reading the theoretical content and viewing videos, 1-2 hours for the virtual simulation, 15 -27 hours for personal study and 2 hours for evaluation.
Funded by Erasmus + INSTrUCT involves eight leading tobacco control educational and research organizations from Spain, the UK, Belgium, and Portugal. This Strategic Partnership brings together:
- The knowledge and teaching experience of the Tobacco Control Unit and the “e-oncologia” in offering smoking cessation e-learning programmes.
- The pedagogical support and the expertise from the University of Navarra (UdN), the University of Barcelona (UB), the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Erasmus University College Brussels (EhB), Escola Superior de Enfermagem Coimbra (ESEnfc) and King’s College London (KCL).
- The technological expertise in the development of virtual technical products of the University of Lleida (UdL).

If you want to implement this course in your own institution, the access to all the project materials can be freely requested. Those materials include the INSTrUCT course in SCORM format, the videos and flowcharts to implement the virtual simulation, and the guidelines for the evaluation.
Materials might need adaptation to the local context, particularly regarding local provision and policies on smoking cessation support available.
